Amit Kumar Dahiya (15 December 1993) is an Indian wrestler who has won the silver medal at the 2013 World Wrestling Championships. He also represented India at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom.He is the youngest wrestler in the Indian delegation. He is also the youngest wrestler ever to represent India at the Olympics..

Career

 

Amit started wrestling in second grade at the age of seven. When he was in second grade, he defeated a seventh grade student in a wrestling match during lunch break. His teacher appreciated him and his family encouraged him to pursue his talent. He was admitted in the akhara of Hansrajji. At this time, it was just meant to be used as a recreation.After seeing his talent, wrestling coach and former Asian and Commonwealth Games medallist Satpal Singh took him in his Delhi's wrestling training centre at Chhatrasal stadium, Model Town.Amit won the silver medal at the 2013 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest. He reached the final in the 55 kg category before losing to the Iranian Hassan Rahimi.
